The SPz Marder 1 is a German infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) developed by Rheinmetall that has served as the main combat vehicle of the armored infantry divisions of the Bundeswehr since the 1970s.

The vehicle underwent several modernizations throughout its service life, with the A3 upgrade program launching in 1988. This modernization included 1600 kilograms of improved armor, reinforced suspension, a new braking system, and a modified turret configuration. The resulting SPz Marder 1A3 has proven to be one of the world’s most battle-tested and reliable IFVs.

Starting in March 2023, Ukraine began receiving SPz Marder 1A3s, with deliveries continuing until late 2024. Open sources indicate Ukraine received approximately 200 of these vehicles, primarily allocated to the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where they have demonstrated their effectiveness as well-protected and reliable infantry fighting vehicles.

Some 16,000 vehicles were fitted with these body variants, and they had the longest service life among Unimog S series truck. Most of these vehicles were used as radio communication machines. They were easily distinguished by their special type of hatches, antenna nests on the roof, and a complex large antenna on the rear wall of the body. Internal equipment included various radio stations such as EM 25, SEM 25 or SEM 25. The colouring of the radios was standard for the Bundeswehr, initially it was the standard olive colour RAL 6014, which in the 1980s was gradually replaced by a tricolor camouflage variant. The Leopard 2A6 tank is a modification of the basic version of the Leopard 2 and belongs to the third generation tanks. Delivery of the tank to the Bundeswehr began in 2001. The main difference of this modification was the new 120-mm smooth-bore gun Rheinmetall L55, whose projectile is capable of penetrating approximately 700 mm of steel homogeneous armor. Also in this modification, the guidance devices and fire control system were improved, the tank protection was modernized and the combined armor was changed to strengthen the stability of the combat vehicle against the means of impression. The weight of the tank at the same time increased to 62 tons. According to experts, the tank is one of the best modern models among the tanks of the world. In the spring of 2023, tanks of the Leopard 2A6 modification appeared in units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They take an active part in the battles in the east and northeast of Ukraine. Like most other Ukrainian military equipment, in combat conditions, these tanks are marked with crosses of various types. Leopard 2A6 is an effective tool in the fight against enemy tanks, in particular, recorded the case of his successful confrontation with two tanks T-80BVM.
